Please note this program is open to Madison families only.  (No refunds after Aug. 15th)

IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH:  (See anticipated Kickz Soccer UK Mid Week Practice schedule for Madison 1-2 and Kindergarten players at bottom of each program description below.   Check back frequently until programs begin for more detail and updates)

The Madison Grades K-2 program is divided into two primary grade groupings:

A.     1-2 Grade Girls //  Boys  (Last day to register is Aug 15th.  Program begins Sept. 8th)
B.     Kindergarten  co-ed
(Last day to register Sept 14th.  Program begins Sept. 15th)

A.     Madison 1st and 2nd Grade Girls  //   Boys  Program

The program begins on Saturday September 8th  and is played on Saturdays at the Central Avenue school for all registered 1st and 2nd grade players. The weekly sessions will be run with the help of the professional coaching by UKElite as well as the parent volunteer coaches.     Depending on weather conditions the program will run up to 9 weeks.

The Saturday schedule each week will be consistent with the past 2 years:

Saturdays:          9:00am - 10:15am      1 - 2 Grade GIRLS
                             10:30am - 11:45am     1 - 2 Grade BOYS

During the first Saturday session, we will confirm attendence, and have the professional soccer trainers from UKElite work with the kids. While the players are working with UKElite, Madison Soccer Club members will be addressing the parents and interested coaches about the season program. Coaches will continue to be encouraged to take the NJ Youth Soccer "F" license (http://www.njyouthsoccer.com/coaching/fsched.htm) to get familiar with issues related to coaching young children including age appropriate activites, safety concerns, expectations, etc. The Saturday sessions will include fun skill development sessions on the technigues of soccer and then small games for the kids to enjoy.

Each Saturday, and at every mid week practice, players must bring a size 3 soccer ball (inflated) with their name on the ball, they should wear cleats or sneakers with shin guards, shorts and t-shirts until the uniforms are ready. Players should bring water in appropriate containers marked with their names.

Teams of 1&2 grade girls, as well as teams of 1&2 grade boys,  will be put together by Saturday September 15  with formal game competition beginning on September  22. Teams are made up of roughly 10-12 players, and they will scrimmage in 6 v 6 games on Saturdays.   If we have an odd number of teams one team each week will split in half and scrimmage itself.

There are no scores kept, no wins vs losses, and we strive for balanced teams so everyone has a good time. Please do not critigue your terrific son or daughter if they "win" or "lose" but rather, ask them what they learn each week, and if they were able to have fun with the soccer ball.

Teams will each get colored soccer jerseys and matching soccer socks. The jerseys will have the rec soccer logo as well as the name of a local business sponsoring the team. We hope to have the uniforms ready by or before Sept 22nd.

Mid Week Practices:  Kickz Soccer UK There will be open practice sessions seperate for the boys and girls in combined grades 1-2 with UKElite weekly, with most of these hour long sessions being held between 3:50pm and 6:00pm on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.  A couple of sessions may be Co-ed to provide more flexibility to parents and players.  One  session for each gender, or co-ed  will be available in the early evening designed for families with 2 working parents who may not be able to get their child to the earlier sessions, but field access is limited for more.   Players will not be assigned sessions initially but a balance among sessions must be achieved in order to make UKElite effective with the numbers of children and field space.  It is requested that players will attend at least one session during the week between Saturday team scrimmages.

We encourage parents and coaches to be in attendence at the start of each session to hear the messages from the Rec program managers or UKElite trainers.

This will be a terrific year of soccer in Madison so come and join the fun at all levels. Get ready for a lot of smiles for the whole family.  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday this fall.

2 - Madison Kindergarten Co-ed Program

The Madison Kindergarten Rec Soccer program will begin on Saturday September 20 at the Central Avenue school.    The program will run up to 8 weeks depending on weather.   The times for each Saturday session will be :     12:00noon - 1:00pm

Players should come to each session in proper athletic attire and equipment for soccer .   They must bring a size 3 soccer ball (inflated) with their name in permanent ink, soccer cleats if possible rather than sneakers, shin guards, long socks over shin guards, shorts, t-shirt and a water bottle with their name on it. As the weather gets colder adjusting the clothing is important to include wind breakers, sweat pants and shirts etc. You may also have the child wear hats and gloves if it gets cold enough. ALL Kindergarten players will receive a Madison Soccer t-shirt jersey for them to wear at each session.

This Rec Soccer program provides a wonderful opportunity for Kindergarten children to become familiar with the game of soccer in a relaxed, fun atmosphere.

  • Formal teams are not created .
  • More instructional approach with fun skill building exercise "games" and small sided playing (no scores kept!)
  • Gauranteed smiles for parents and grandparents

Mid Week Practice opportunity:  Kickz Soccer UK Starting the week prior to Sat. Sept 15th, the Kindergarten players will all have an opportunity  each week for a 45 minute practice and skill development session with UKElite trainers.  The Wednesday sessions are open to any girl or boy on the following schedule.  All children in a morning Kindergarten program are to attend the first session on Wednesday (the early session is 3:45-4:30pm) and the second session (the later session is 4:45-5:30pm) will only be open to children in an afternoon Kindergarten or full day program.  We are also this year offering other sessions on Monday and Thursday for Kindergarten players adding flexibility for those who can not attend the Wednesday sessions.   A balance in numbers must be reached in the sessions for UKElite to be effective with the children.
