Grades 3-8 information concerning Rules, Equipment and Conduct

See highlighted Practice information below:

This program is open to all boys and girls in both Madison and Harding who are in the 3rd through 8th grades.

This is a recreation program which means that all children who register will play.

In an effort to create more competitive teams, the Madison/Harding Recreation Soccer Program combines both Harding and Madison children on the same team.

To create balanced combined teams, Harding and Madison children will participate in a skills assessment on Sunday June 8, 2008 in Madison, under the supervision of both the Harding and Madison soccer coaches as well as professional coaches from UKElite.

Upon completion of the skills assessment session, the teams are formed.

The Madison/Harding grades 3-8 soccer program will combine both parent/coach practices and practices with professional coaches from UKElite.

This allows us to create a soccer experience for our children that is both enjoyable for the player and provides solid fundamental soccer training.

Mid Week Practice & Skill Development

UKElite Clinics (Schedule click here)

The Madison/Harding Recreation Program for grades 3-8 provides weekly clinics with professional coaches from UKElite.  This gives the program's players an opportunity to work on fundamentals and improve their overall soccer skill.    For all players in Grades 3-4 and Grades 5-8, the mid week practice session with UKElite will occur primarily on Mondays.   Players are strongly encouraged to commit to these sessions as they are a substantial part of the fees you pay for rec soccer. The sessions this fall will be age and gender based, not team based , which hopefully will provide more flexibility for parents and players alike. Players will not be assigned sessions initially, but overall balance in numbers must be achieved to make UKElite effective and to accommodate field use and access.
Grade 3-4 players will practice in increments of 1 hour and 15 minute sessions between 4:00 – 7:00pm on Mondays at a variety of local Madison Fields.  Additional sessions may be available on alternative days and times, with possible Co-Ed groups of players to provide flexibility to parents and players alike.
Grades 5-8 will also practice Monday with UKElite for 1.5 hour increment sessions between 5:10-8:20pm.
Parent Coach Practice

In addition to the UK Elite weekly clinics, there will be a parent/coach scheduled practice once a week. Check with your coach once assigned, and on this web site for more information on practice schedules. It is important that you attend practice. If you have scheduling conflicts, please let your coach know. You should be prepared at practice with cleats, shin guards, and plenty of water. We ask all players to please clean up after practice, removing all water bottles and any other items from the field.

Parent-Coach practices will occur usually on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday between 4:00-9:00pm and each session is the same length as the UKElite session for each age group. These practices are Team oriented not gender or age based.   To maximize your enjoyment of Rec Soccer you should make efforts to participate each week in the Parent Coach practice between your team’s Saturday games. The actual day and time for your particular team session will be determined by the coach and field availability, and will be posted on this website as well as the season begins

Game Schedule
Games will be played on Saturdays in either Madison and Harding. Check with your coach and at the Web site for more information on game schedules. Please let your coach know as early as possible if you cannot attend a scheduled game. Players should be at the field at least 15 minutes prior to the game. You must have your cleats shin guards and team jersey for all games.

Games
Players are expected to attend all games. Parents and friends, please come see the games if possible. The players will enjoy the attention of parents and friends. Spectators are required to remain on the opposite side of the field from coaches and players. The referees and coaches need to maintain the attention of their players, which is made more difficult if spectators are mingling and cheering among the coaches and players. Also, please respect the referees, coaches, and players. Maintain a positive atmosphere for the players by cheering all the players in a lighthearted manner. All the referees and coaches are there on a volunteer basis. We are guests of the Madison Recreational Soccer League, and good sportsmanship and courtesy are expected.

Positions
Our players will learn and play all of the offensive and defensive positions.

The program is run jointly by Claire Smith, Director of Madison Recreation Soccer for Grades K-8 and Dave Fasset, Director of Grades 3-8 Soccer in Harding Township.

If you have any questions or comments concerning the program, please do not hesitate to contact either one of them.
